Module Learning Strategies
Lectures 4 x 2 hours.
Group tutorials 12 x 2 hours.
Tutor assessments and final presentation 4 hours.

The project allows students to tackle a significant piece of work within a group. Guidance on both the technical content and the approach to group working is given at the outset. The actual activity is heavily student centred and develops both effective teamwork and technical competence. Guidance and direction throughout are provided by the designated project supervisor.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Tutor assessment (30%) Learning outcomes 1 and 4.
Group technical report (approximately 5,000 words) (50%) Learning outcomes 2, 3 and 4.
Group presentation, 20 minutes (20%) Learning outcomes 1 and 4.
Module Indicative Content
Project Definition - Work in a team (typically 3-4 students) to derive a full project specification and development plan, and to allocate specific tasks to individuals.

Study - Acquisition of appropriate background theory and specific design skills.

Design - Team effort to partition the problem into sections for each team member to develop in detail. Detailed design and development. Integration and proving of the system.

Reporting - Students will give a formal presentation of their project, as well as submit a final report.
