Links to AHEPS 4

This module links to AHEPs 4 in the following ways:

1. F5 – following research into Teaching and Learning theories, design a broad based solution in the form of a training event, to meet the needs of a combination of learners. The lesson will meet the needs of different learners and specifically, their individual requirements in terms of their training needs.
2. F9 – through the delivery of a teaching event, the student will identify, evaluate and mitigate risks associated with the delivery of a lesson to several students.
3. F11 – through the delivery of a carefully designed training event, the student will recognise the responsibilities, benefits and importance of supporting equality, diversity and inclusion. They will achieve this by taking into account individual needs of students in the delivery of the lesson.
4. F16 – through the delivery of the teaching event, the student will function effectively as an individual and as the leader of the team, in this case the ‘teacher’ in the classroom.
5. F17 – through the delivery of the teaching event and the coursework, communicate effectively with technical audiences (staff within their organisation) and non-technical audiences (academic staff on the module).
6. F18 – as part of the teaching event and the coursework, the student has the opportunity to plan and record self-learning and development. This will take the form of new teaching skills learned and delivery of a teaching event.
MODULE INDICATIVE CONTENT
The student will carry out a teaching event using staff within your work environment on a technical or management issue as appropriate to their degree profile.
As part of the process the student will research Teaching and Learning theories and apply these to the development of a workplace specific teaching event. The training event will include defined learning outcomes and an appropriate delivery structure to support your students.
Following the teaching event, the student will reflect on the pre-course planning in relation to the delivery of the teaching activities, additionally reflecting on the success of the planning in achieving the learning outcomes.
