Indicative Content
The module is intended to assess the placement period, undertaken by the student between levels 5 and 6. This provides a mechanism for gaining credit for the placement as part of their sandwich degree.

The placement should be for a minimum duration of 38 weeks but the module assesses a specific project, undertaken within the placement, with a minimum duration of 150 hours. The module therefore requires the student to undertake, within the placement, a structured project, relevant to the company, which ensures that the learning outcomes are demonstrated.

The work, based upon past experience can be varied but should be tailored to the student’s needs and at the same time meeting a requirement of the company. The actual project will be negotiated between the student, company supervisor and visit tutor or module tutor.
Learning Strategies
The module will be based on the placement you undertake in your sandwich year between levels 5 and 6. During your placement you will agree a project with your placement tutor and company supervisor. You will produce a written report based on the project. During your time on placement you will become familiar with departments outside the main department you are working in and you will write a business report describing how the departments work together to support the requirements of the company as a whole. You will need to present a log book which is a record of training and work undertaken during the placement. You will also give a 10 minute presentation describing the company in general and your project in particular.

Support and guidance will be provided by the visit tutor via workplace visits, telephone conversations and emails.
