Module Additional Assessment Details
This is a non-contributing, non-credit bearing module which you must successfully complete to continue with your academic award and apprenticeship. To complete this module, you must satisfactorily complete all of the following activities:
Along with your employer’s representative participate in regular apprenticeship review meetings and complete the relevant sections of the review form. (Learning outcome 1)
Every week make an entry in the reflective journal which considers an activity you have participated in either as part of your course or in the workplace. (Learning outcome 2)
Maintain your apprenticeship logbook and regularly update it as you develop the require knowledge, skills and behaviours. (Learning outcome 1)
Make weekly entries in the “20% of the job” record. This should record all time spent at University and any activities undertaken in the workplace to develop knowledge, skills and behaviour. The total time spent must equate to the equivalent of one day per week across the whole year.
Provide evidence of ongoing engagement with apprenticeship activities during each month of semester 3. This will be achieved by submitting written reports on activities requires for your development as part of the apprenticeship.
Module Indicative Content
This module should be completed as part of year 5 of an Engineering degree apprenticeship. The module monitors your progress in developing the required knowledge and skills and behaviours required for an Engineering Degree Apprenticeship. It also ensures you comply with the non-academic monitoring elements of the apprenticeship by ensuring satisfactory completion of logbooks and journals. It serves as a gateway to ensure compliance with apprenticeship requirements before completing your academic award.
You will use Blackboard to complete the following journals/logbooks:
Weekly reflective journal
20% off the job logbook
Apprenticeship logbook
You will also take part in regular review meeting between yourself, your company mentor and a representative from the University. You will need to complete the apprentice sections of the review form to record this meeting.
During semester three you will engage in activities to support your apprenticeship and submit written reports on these each month.
Module Learning Strategies
This module will be delivered over three semesters through regular review meetings with the apprentice, company mentor and University representative. Journal and logbook content will also be monitored using Blackboard.
A scheduled total of 4 hours of contact time will be used but additional face to face, email and telephone support will be provided as the apprentice requires it.
