Module Indicative Content
This module develops editorial skills and practice introduced in Writing for Publication Part 1 to include advanced techniques and long-forms of editing, such as structural organisation and consistency of narration, tone and texture in a sustained piece of writing. Knowledge and understanding of the publishing industry and how it is developing in the digital age will form a focus for discussion and students will learn pathways to publication, approaching literary agents, writing cover letters and synopses. Across the module, students will be encourage to reflect on the creative and editorial practice.
Module Learning Strategies
There will be a programme of twelve three-hour editorial workshops and tutorials related editing practice. Students will be expected to prepare for classes by reading of both the primary and set secondary reading.
