Component 1:
Pre-production and planning of game content (agreed by tutor), focused towards an intended genre, platform and audience. Using previous research as guidance. (Towards outcomes 1 and 3)
Component 2:
A log of the development done towards the final practical component, documenting processes and skills learned, problems solved, methods evaluated and research performed. (Towards outcomes 1 and 2)
Component 3:
Production of game artefact (agreed by tutor), using industry software/engine. Focused towards a given genre, platform and audience, and reflective discussion. (Towards outcomes 2, 3 and 4)

This module will give you the skills you need to start your journey to becoming a games designer. You will learn about gameplay features that define games and make them come to life.
You will develop technical skills in the modification of assets and implementing them into an engine. You will set-up graphics, animation and layout to fit your chosen genre.
You will develop skills such as gameplay design, mechanic design and level design to ensure your game has balance and flow, as well as how to present a user-friendly interface.
Learning Strategies
3 hour lecture/tutorial per week delivered as 8 weeks intensive Lecture/Tutorial followed 4 weeks of surgery sessions each semester.
