Critical essay (2,500 words)
Students will be required to write a critical essay on one or more of the concepts explored in the module. Essay topic to be determined by tutor. The essay must include appropriate academic and industry sources
LEARNING STRATEGIES
The learning strategy for the module requires you to commit 150 learning hours (including assessment). Of this there will be 24 hours of interactive classroom support and 126 hours of independent and self-directed study. Interactive lectures, roleplay, case study research and support activities (24 hours) will provide you with additional input, advice and practical participation to support your understanding of esports integrity. A further 126 hours of independent study will require you to research the regulatory environment surrounding esports.
WEB DESCRIPTOR
This module looks at both the ethics in esports and the regulatory structure and the risk that involves. Besides looking at things from a purely esports context, this module will also draw on cases and concepts from conventional sports to explore issues which esports may face as it matures. To do so you will investigate topics and case studies relating to cheating, corruption, match fixing, gambling, integrity agreements, and regulatory frameworks.
