Formative Treatment process

Students will undertake an informal ‘treatment’ pitch to the module tutor, outlining the scope, style, delivery timeline and storyboards for their content portfolio.

Assessment 1: Content Portfolio

Create a content portfolio for use across long-form, short-form and social media platforms that responds to a specific industry live brief, plus accompanying documentation to facilitate this project. In a 10-minute reel, showcase the different content created commenting on the different ways it can be used (include a long-form, short-form and social media platform).

It is expected that the college partner will establish an industry link to make this possible.

LO1, LO2, LO3

Assessment 2: Reflection

Critically reflect and evaluate the content portfolio and the creation process, outlining how the content was collated, justifying the decisions made according to academic approaches and industry best practice as well as outlining the different actions taken in the post-production stages to maximise the use of the content portfolio. For example, multiple uses of the same asset across different social media platforms. In the reflection you should outline the strengths of the project, as well as include constructive suggestions for improvements.

LO3,LO4
Indicative Content
In this module, students will explore non-live content creation for a variety of purposes, including for long-form production, short-form, social media and highlight footage. Exploring the traditional television/media formal pre-production process and comparing that to the fast-paced world of esports and digital media content, and taking part in the curation of a content portfolio that can be used across a variety of platforms and succeed according to different algorithms and metrics for success.

Web Descriptor
Media Matters - media consumption is at an all-time high, so the content you produce and the way you share it is key to success in the modern world of content. How you plan this content, how you capture it, what you film, how you film it and what you do to it after the fact is the real question of what you need to do to make your content successful. A lot of the time, making the most out of each bit of content makes for the highest return of value, so making the media which you produce work for you is vital.
Learning Strategies
Students will be expected to engage in a variety of learning strategies, including but not limited to:
Independent practice
Research
Group meetings
Personal development planning
Teamwork
Networking events
Independent study in support of your project work.
