A studio programme and peer assessment weighted at 50% and addressing Learning Outcomes 4 and 5
Assessment 2: Reflective Log
An evaluative log (typically 1200 words) considering the elements that contribute towards successful studio production, weighted at 50% and addressing Learning Outcomes 1, 2 and 3
Module Indicative Content
The students will work as a group to produce a studio based topical television programme.
In the course they will gain knowledge of:
1. Scriptwriting Element
Creative and technical requirements including technical directions for studio based programmes.
2. Pre Production Element
How to design, structure, research and produce filmed/edited inserts for a studio programme.
3. Studio Production Element
Working as a team to produce a studio programme.
Aims to provide understanding of the digital technology and creative knowledge used in studio based production.
4. Team Working Element
Aims to provide understanding of the interpersonal and communication skills required for working effectively as part of a team.
Module Learning Strategies
4 x 3 hour lectures, 20 x 3 tutorials/production meetings
Group and individual tutorials, production meetings and screening of studio based programmes and practical workshops.

The students will work collectively as a group to produce a studio based topical television programme, prioritising the development of interpersonal and communication skills required to work effectively as part of a team. They will gain knowledge of the creative and technical requirements of scriptwriting, including the production of technical directions for studio-based programmes. They will gain knowledge of pre-production processes, including how to design, structure, research and produce filmed/edited inserts for a studio programme. They will work as a team to produce a studio programme, developing a detailed understanding of the digital technology and creative knowledge inherent in studio-based production.
