Module Indicative Content
This module requires students to enhance their management skills by participating in the running of a major collaborative event.
1. Planning and specifying a major event
2. Preparing a budget for a major event
3. Preparing a schedule (programme of events)
4. Overseeing the preparation of marketing materials (advertising posters, flyers, programmes etc)
5. Preparing necessary paperwork to run the event (contracts, application forms, risk assessments etc)
6. Conducting formal negotiations with marketing executives, corporate sponsors and contributors
7. Undertaking an individual role when manning and managing the live event
Module Additional Assessment Details
Coursework 100%
Individual Logbook and group management folder weighted at 30% and Event Inspection supported by an individual evaluation (typically 1000 words) weighted at 70% which will assess learning outcomes 1,2 and 3
Event Inspection report; tutors will attend the event and report on the effectiveness of both the overall event and its management. Each individual will also be required to prepare a peer assessment of each team member. Events might include a film festival or media screening evening.
Module Learning Strategies
4 x 1 hour lectures plus group and individual tutorials, workshops and regular whole group progress meetings. There will also be formal negotiation meetings with marketing professionals, contributors and prospective sponsors.
