A portfolio weighted at 100% comprising of:-
A written analytical and reflective logbook (1500 words) which will assess Learning Outcome 1 and 4
Practical assessment weighted which will assess Learning Outcomes 2 and 3
INDICATIVE CONTENT
Student will undertake an in-depth study into the discipline of digital compositing, motion graphics and its relationship to editing and the post production workflow.
With any form of digital compositing it is a combination of visual effectiveness and problem solving. Using often simple methods combined together to create visually exciting, creative, artistic and purposeful content for insertion into films, TV productions, events and web content.
Studying workflows from conception and story through to final image, students will integrate traditional creative design processes with combined with photographs, motion graphics in both 2D/3D to realise their final pieces. Combine basic art and design principles with creativity and technology to create compelling style frames, design boards and motion design projects.
Students will cover the following topics:
Integration of 3D elements photos and painting techniques to create a digital matte.
Back plate analysis,
Grain removal
Colour matching
Animating cameras
Parallax
Digital compositing techniques
History of the medium
Design principles
LEARNING STRATEGIES
The module will be delivered using a combination of lectures, demonstrations and supervised tutorials in 3 hour periods. The majority of the work will be of a practical nature and students are expected to use their independent study time to consolidate this work.
1 x 3 hour workshop
Independent study time will be comprised of 228 hours of learning spread over 24 weeks. This work will comprise of completing classroom set work each week and the major assessment work.
