100% Coursework which will include:
A written analytical and reflective logbook (2000 words) weighted at 30% which will assess Learning Outcomes 1 and 2
Practical assessment of 70% addressing learning outcomes 3 and 4
INDICATIVE CONTENT
Students will be introduced to the fundamental theories and practical of editing moving and static images.
The content will cover:
Colour modes, image, acquisition, basic compression (DCT), print, pixel based image manipulation
Introduce the relevant mathematical theories (number systems, fixed points, algebra, matrices, 2D space, 2D vectors and discrete maths)
Introduction to non-linear editing
The theoretical techniques of editing images and sound
Practical methods for compressing content for DVD, web and film
Juxtaposition of images and sound
Montage theories
Digital asset management
LEARNING STRATEGIES
Learning will be lectures, practical tutorials, self -study and technical instruction.
1 hour lecture, 2 hours tutorials per week
