INDICATIVE CONTENT
The aim of this module is to support professional and academic development through self-directed research and enquiry. You will propose a negotiated area of research, personalised to your individual career aspirations and learning requirements. Your will research the chosen subject, analysing data to communicate the results of the study through an academic report or video essay (2,000 words).
Topics may include, the history and future of film and television technologies, film analysis and deconstruction, film distribution and consumption, developing film and television content.

ASSESSMENT ONE: A NEGOTIATED RESEARCH PROJECT
The Negotiated Research Project to include a written research report or video essay.

LEARNING STRATEGIES
The learning strategies used within the module include experiential learning, where you will learn through individual research and academic development, with personal tutor support through key stages of the project to guide the scope and depth of research. There is opportunity for learning to be personalised, as students are encouraged to draw from their influences and undertake an individual research project aligned to their future career aspirations.
Lectures will explore research methods, interpretation of data, academic writing and referencing.
Supervisor (Lecturer) will oversee your project. This means you will be required to meet negotiated project milestones, which may be hyper personal depending on your negotiated area of study. You will receive regular formative feedback on your research to support personal and professional development.
Guest Speakers will provide context to the current climate of the film and television industry and give an insight into film technologies.
Workshops will provide research exercises, opportunities to debate industry topics and support the development of reliable, coherent arguments.
Production Supervisor (Lecturer) will oversee your project and experiments. This means you will be required to meet negotiated project milestones, which may be hyper personal depending on your production role. You will receive regular formative feedback on your production work and personal engagement.
