Module Details
Module Additional Assessment Details
1) A 2 hour examination weighted at 30% which will assess Learning Outcomes 1, 2 and 5.

2) A 200 word written project proposal 10% detailing the synopsis and treatment for the practical work plus Fast Track or Full Application University Ethics form which will assess Learning Outcome 1.

3) Practical work weighted at 60% - Production of an original 8 minute audio visual production, combining video footage with audio. 5 minutes to be completed in Semester 1, 3 minutes in Semester 2. Practical assessment will be done in groups but assessed individually and will assess Learning Outcomes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Module Indicative Content
1. Analysis of technical elements in relation to analogue, digital film and audio production.
2. Techniques of location and studio based audio-visual recording.
3. Introduction to waveform generation and element analysis software.
4. Application of waveform software to digital audio and film.
5. Construction of audio-visual material for a short section of film.
6. Construction of narrative pacing for a short film.
Module Learning Strategies
The course will involve a combination of tutor-led lectures and seminars totalling 3 hours per week and will include independent learning.
