Module Additional Assessment Details
100% Coursework will assess learning outcomes 1, 2, 3 and 4 and include:
Semester 1&2
A/ A Personal Portfolio describing and reflecting on a minimum of 25 hours spent in work related environment during the duration of the module. The portfolio should include:
1/ A Personal development statement/review
2/ Reflection on skills development and review areas for further personal career development
This time will be recorded in a PDP with evidence of reflection on what has been learned from these work-related experiences.
Engagement in work-related experiences can include any of the following:
Work placement
Work experience
Volunteering experience
Social enterprise project
Existing part time work
Organising an event or series of events
Setting up a new club/society
Setting up a business; sole trader, Limited Company, Partnership
Semester 1
B/ An individual practical and a business plan 1,500 words of mobile content for film, corporate or television.
And
Semester 2
C/ A report 2,500 words into the business and/or law of film and/or television production.
To satisfactorily complete the module the student is required to record and reflect upon his/her learning experiences gained inside and outside the classroom; the latter primarily being work-related/ work-environment experiences. This is achieved through the use of a PDP.
Module Indicative Content
This module offers the opportunity to build on the knowledge the student has acquired so far in pursuing the Staffordshire Graduate Employability Programme and their degree programme as a whole, specifically looking at the world of work and citizenship.
a/ Students will develop the creative, business and entrepreneurial skills in film and television.
b/ Students will be expected to build on this knowledge by attending skills workshops, independent study off campus and working for a minimum of 25 hours in industry during the module.
Module Learning Strategies
The module features a wide range of learning methods, appropriate to the content. These will include interactive, student-centred workshops, lectures and tutorials and self study.
The module will draw on contributions from internal industry practitioners (discipline related or not) to support the student learning experience to help identify and explain attributes for employability.
The time spent in the work-related environment should be a minimum of 25 hours during the duration of the module. This time will be recorded in the PDP with evidence of reflection on what has been learned from these work-related experiences.
Students will be encouraged to continue their work-related experience beyond the level 5 module itself.
