INDICATIVE CONTENT
The module builds upon the foundations of writing for film and television from level 4 and concentrates on the creation of longer form writing for feature films and TV drama series. Students will develop initial ideas that will then be discussed as a group in script development meetings, mirroring the practice of development in the industry. The 12 week semester is broken down into 4 blocks of 3 weeks. Block 1 is based around idea generation and discussion, block 2 covers the structuring and writing of a first draft treatment, block 3 completes the first draft script and block 4 redrafts and finalises the story structure, characters and final script document.

The lectures will cover the use of alternative script structures, dialogue and action writing and the use of story devices.
