3. Reflective Presentation – Assessing Learning Outcomes – 5, 6 and 7 – Weighted at 10%
INDICATIVE CONTENT
You will develop your artistic and professional identity through the production of a short film that is appropriate to your chosen career pathway. You will explore contemporary practices and processes of professional filmmakers within your chosen field, interpreting and applying these within the production of your own work.

In addition to expanding your creative and technical storytelling skills, you will develop a broader understanding of freelance filmmaking and associated entrepreneurial skills. Industry informed knowledge and skills will underpin your filmmaking practice and prepare you for employment within your chosen career pathway. You will evidence engagement, enquiry, and application of these skills through your film, within your production file documentation and during your reflective presentation.

Your completed production file will provide evidence of your engagement with pitching, crowdfunding, budgeting, professional liaison and the development of a personal brand and profile as a filmmaker.

You will apply your freelancer skills to develop your network within the course community. You will network with Level 6 students and find appropriate crewing opportunities on their final year projects. You will record these experiences within your production file and reflect on them in your presentation.

LEARNING STRATEGIES
The learning strategies used within the module include experiential learning through project-based and industry informed enquiry, and reflective practice. Your independent study will be supported by:
Workshops and mix mode sessions that introduce and explore the professional practice of filmmakers and artistic brand building in relation to your career aspirations.
Guest Speakers/Industry Panels that provide context to the current climate of freelance filmmaking, give advice on portfolio building and an insight into filmmaking business skills.
Technical Instruction that introduces advanced filmmaking techniques and hands on training and practice with portable production equipment and specialist production and post-production facilities.
Production Supervisor (Lecturer) who will oversee your project. This means you will be required to meet negotiated project milestones, which will be unique to your project goals. You will receive regular formative feedback on your film and production file.
