Module Learning Strategies
The module will be delivered using a combination of lectures, demonstrations and supervised tutorials in 2 hour periods. The majority of the work will be of a practical nature and students are expected to use their independent study time to consolidate this work.

1 x 1 Hour Laboratory per week
1 x 1 Hour Lecture per week

Coursework weighted at 100% comprising of:-

Practical (60%) Assessing learning outcomes 1 and 2
Presentation (20%) Assessing learning outcome 3
Written reflective logbook (20%) Assessing learning outcome 3
Module Indicative Content
Students will study a range of contemporary and historical computer games to research and develop a unique and innovative game concept design including character and environments finished as a rendered action scene in either 2 or 3D.
Students will cover the following topics:

- Painting hair, fur and clothing
- Life drawing
- Creating a strong composition of environments and characters
- Camera studies including angle of view, depth of field, framing, motion and shake
- How to use gathered reference
- Rendering/painting skin and interaction with appropriate clothes/costume/graphics
- Digital compositing
- Matte painting
- Digital character design
