INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module aims to provide you an advanced understanding of the nature of film and TV finance and distribution. Aspects of marketing and distribution in all current and future forms will be investigated as part of the module.

The module will examine the marketing and distribution strategies used in the film and television industries to monetise content across a number of platforms. Lectures will cover general marketing principles and social media marketing as well as the specific strategies used in theatrical distribution, independent and studio based films and the new channels of distributing TV content.
Students will be encouraged to examine case studies during tutorial sessions and independent study and to apply this research to the development of the own marketing and distribution plans.

Develop entrepreneurial skills in developing projects and business start-ups
Be able to write effective business plans both for individual projects and for setting up a limited company.

Module Learning Strategies
"13 x 3 hours which will be made up from a combination of lectures, lab sessions and self study off campus Interactive student centred workshops, lectures and tutorials with personal experience in industry, social interaction and reflection.

The module will draw on contributions from internal industry practitioners (discipline related or not) to support the student learning experience to help identify and explain attributes for employability.

Engagement in work-related experiences in corporate, film and television can include any of the following:
Work placement
Volunteering experience
Social enterprise project
Existing part time work
Organising an event or series of events
Setting up a new club/society

Students will be encouraged to continue their work-related experience beyond the level 6 module itself.

Marketing and distributing your film or TV programme is the final step in the whole production process – but is perhaps the most crucial if you’re going to have a long term career in the industry. This module looks at how you can build an audience, what marketing strategies you can use and how you can sell your content to the international market.
