Module Details
Module Indicative Content
This module will enable participants to create and share a digital story about community participation. It is designed for people who are volunteers or active citizens.
The module will focus on the practical activity of digital storytelling, and on reflection on the process.
It will also provide participants with an understanding of the value and use of digital stories of participation for learning and community development.

It will cover:

What is a story?
Why tell stories?
How stories help learning
What makes a good story?
Process of digital storytelling
Reflective practice
Using digital media
Telling your story
Recording your story
Sharing your story
Module Additional Assessment Details
Individual presentation 30% [Learning Outcome 1,2 and 3] equivalent to 500 words

Portfolio to include a reflective workbook, a storyboard and a digital story (approx 3 minutes long) 70%, 1000 words [Learning Outcomes 1, 2 and 4]

This will require individual reflection on the experience of creating a digital story of participation.

Module Learning Strategies
The programme will be delivered through classroom, supported and independent learning. Contact hours will be classroom based and group tutorials. The independent study hours will be devoted to reflection on the activity of digital storytelling and students working together to support each other to develop and record their story.
Students will have access to on-line resources for learning materials and groups discussion.
