Module Indicative Content
This module will help you develop and realise an individual programme of work based on ideas and practice already established in Level One. You will be expected to identify a coherent programme of work that should reflect your developing aims and intentions. You will expand your understanding of studio practice through experimentation and speculative inquiry.

You will develop an analytical approach to the discussion and evaluation of practice, recognising that this will be achieved through a shared conversational community. The module will allow you to locate your studio practice in the context of wider cultural debates and develop models of good practice in research, documentation and presentation of work. You will be encouraged to deploy a wide range of research methods appropriate to the studio-based environment of fine art practice.

A statement of personal aims and objectives [Learning Outcome 1].
Documentation of your contribution to group seminars and presentations [Learning Outcome 3].
A body of studio work that demonstrates speculative investigation, specialist skills and the use of a refined visual language [Learning Outcomes 1,2].

Module Learning Strategies
You will be expected to identify a coherent work programme, which should reflect your developing aims and intentions. The parameters of this programme will be agreed in consultation with staff through individual tutorials and group seminars. Your declared aims will allow staff to advise on the resources most appropriate to the development of that practice. This will include both theoretical and practical resources so as to inculcate an understanding of fine art practice as an holistic activity. You will be encouraged to use as wide a range of processes as your direction and ideas suggest. You will be expected to deploy a wide range of research techniques to the studio-based environment of fine art practice. Focused independent learning is essential to this module. You will be assisted to incorporate and review pertinent findings and procedures established in other modules and at previous levels. The emphasis on appraising a personal history of making is a continued element of the learning in this module.

The module will be delivered using the group dynamic achieved in a studio based learning environment, as well as formal studio tutorials and seminars. Teaching methods throughout the semester will also include responsive studio tutorials and studio led group seminar.

A menu of workshops building on your semester 1 experience will allow you practical opportunities for developing skills in relation to your individual programme of work.
