INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module provides you with the opportunity to stay up to date with the ever-advancing field of digital forensics through horizon scanning of the latest developments and challenges within digital forensics, for example, the study of drones, 3D digital techniques, imaging, dealing with volume data and advanced tools.¿ The content here will be influenced by your own role and the expectations of your employer.¿
Alignment to duties under the Digital Forensic Technician Apprenticeship Standard:¿
6) Use specialist technical equipment within a laboratory, at a crime scene or other appropriate location to conduct forensic examination's. Ensuring handling, transport, storage, and environmental factors are all considered.¿
7) To work within a quality-controlled environment aligning to standard operating policies and procedures whilst also carrying out technical quality checks, and peer reviews at a comparable competency level.¿

ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Apprentices should complete these assessments as a demonstration of competence and receive a pass/fail outcome for the work. Apprentices completing the module for credit towards a CertHE will receive summative assessment marks as per the weightings given.

The concept map task should explore your understanding of a current technology and where you perceive the opportunities and challenges for digital forensics exist in relation to it (LO1). The follow-up presentation should demonstrate how specialist methods and quality-controlled environments are essential to the development of good practice within digital forensics (LO1/LO2).

LEARNING STRATEGIES
The module will be taught through a mixed approach to learning, providing you with an opportunity to practice new skills and develop knowledge within both a structured face-to face environment and through guided online discussions and webinars. This will align with the expectations of the employer to support on the job learning.¿
Towards the end of this module, you will receive further guidance towards completing the module assessment and collection of evidence for completion of the EPA portfolio. During this time, you will also be supported in your personal and professional development.¿
