Module Details
Module Indicative Content
This modules focus will be on the development of knowledge concerning the key aspects of modern day policing and the associated community policing models which exist both nationally and internationally. It will address the causes of civil unrest in the UK including the political, economic and social factors relevant to the development of relevant policing strategies and tactics.
Consideration of pertinent governmental, academic and case reports will provide understanding and awareness of the requirements necessary to police society today.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Assignment 1. Essay (60%): 2000 words. This assignment will be used to demonstrate an understanding of Outcomes 1, 2, and 4. Submitted in Semester 1.

Assignment 2. Poster (40%): This will consist of a poster presentation designed to identify the key legislation and cases pertinent to the public order policing arena which have led to the 'professionalisation' of this key aspect of police public relationships.
Outcomes1, 2, 3 and 4. Submitted in Semester 2.
Module Learning Strategies
48 hours of lectures and problem solving classes will introduce the student to the theoretical elements of community policing and public order policing.

252 hours of independent study should be dedicated to necessary research of background information related to the delivery of the core material, gaining greater in-depth understanding and development of applicable knowledge relevant to the module assessments.
