Module Indicative Content
Intelligence led Policing module content is linked to the National Intelligence Model which is the foundation on which Policing and investigation policy and decisions are based. Students will be given a full understanding of the NIM including, the requirement for strategic Intelligence requirements, linked to problem orientated Policing. Intelligence Led Policing will look at the use of intelligence gathering equipment both covert and overt and the use of human intelligence sources. Partnerships with other agencies, in Local, National, and European governments, including human rights issues will also be required knowledge.

Module Additional Assessment Details
Students will be required to complete 1 piece of individual summative assessment submitted at the end of the module (50%)
A group strategic plan for gathering information and policing a particular scenario (5000 words). Members of the group will contribute their own individual section to the plan and will be peer and tutor assessed to establish individual contributions (50%)
Formative Assessment:
Will be provided through feedback during workshops for preparing intelligence strategies.
Module Learning Strategies
Lectures alongside group workshops and associated tutorials will be used to explain the
Principals and applications, allowing you to discuss and apply the material to problems
6 x 2h lectures to provide information of the techniques in intelligence lead policing. 6 x 2 hour group workshops to analyse and discuss strategies for particular scenarios, and to enable feedback on a formative strategic plan. Non contact independent study will be required to complement the lectures and tutorial sessions and should involve additional group meeting of students without the presence of a tutor and extensive background reading to support both elements of the summative assignments.
