Module Indicative Content
Students are introduced to investigative techniques for the recovery of evidence from computers, mobile telephone technology and the internet utilised by criminals and organised crime groups for the purposes of criminal gain. It will also examine the benefits that technology has brought to the investigative function . Consideration of the development of modern technology and legislation to deal with the advent of pornography and child abuse through the internet as well as copyright and intellectual property will be examined. Issues concerning identity theft and the use of technology in an increasingly cashless society are also developed. An inspection of the developing multi- media opportunities will be conducted to provide knowledge regarding developing techniques of detection.
Module Learning Strategies
Lecture /tutorials minimum of 48 hours
24 x1 hour Lectures to present information combined with 24x1 hour tutorial period to discuss the outcomes from further reading and contemporary developments.
252 hours independent study
This time will be utilised to support the coursework and to prepare for the coursework assignments.
