ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Objective structured performance examination – Students will take part in a series (approximately 8) of skills-focused role-plays in which they will utilise their knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, powers, and procedures associated with daily policing activities and apply them in each scenario. Scenarios will take place throughout the module with each role play lasting no longer than 30mins. Scenarios will address all the learning outcomes.

INDICATIVE CONTENT
The module will facilitate the practical application of existing taught knowledge through role play and scenarios, drawing on previous learning and personal development throughout the course. On the module, you will explore a range of topics core to the police officer role and gain a deeper understanding of the key legislation and police powers that sit around these. The module will enable you to extend your operational policing knowledge and apply your learning to a wide range of operational scenarios common in policing. You will cover key powers and procedures such as Stop and Search, Arrest and Detention, and Entering and Searching premises. Alongside these, you will enhance your confidence in using the First Responder protocol as well as focusing on aspects of investigation such as intelligence collection, evidence gathering, interviewing and giving evidence in court. The module seeks to test and stretch your decision making and communication skills to better equip you for entry into employment.

Giving you the opportunity to apply what you have learnt over the course of the degree through practical application, this module will enhance you understanding of both legislation, powers and practice commonly experienced in policing and provide you with the opportunity to embed the theory with practical based application. Role plays and scenarios will be utilised to test your knowledge and skills throughout the module, leaving you feeling more confident on your entry into employment. LEARNING STRATEGIES
The module will be delivered through a mixture of taught classroom based sessions and practical role play based scenarios around campus and using the crime scene facility and court rooms to solidify their learning and embed their practical skills. Students will utilise independent study, reflection, group work and case studies to enhance their understanding and confidence.
