Reflective Report (30%) (FINAL)
On completion of the placement you will write a 3000-word reflective summary giving an account of the environment in which you have worked and a description of the activities in which you have been engaged. To be submitted by mid-July of the placement year. (LO1)
Line Manager and Academic Supervisor Evaluation (40% and 30%, respectively)
You will be allocated a line manager in the receiving organisation and an academic placement tutor from Staffordshire University. The line manager will evaluate your performance during the year completing a proforma at the end of your placement. Your placement tutor will be in regular contact with you via e-mail but will also visit or arrange a Skype (or similar) meeting with you on at least two occasions whilst you are on placement to evaluate our development. Module Indicative Content
You will undertake a paid or unpaid placement of at least 30 weeks (including pro-rata holiday) duration in an environment relevant to your degree course. The placement year is intended to provide practical experience of working within and for an organisation.
It allows you to experience at first hand the practical application of some theory and methods delivered in Level’s 4 and 5.
It will help you develop appropriate behavioural attitudes within the working environment. Alongside providing practical experience in the legal, social and ethical issues of working within an organisation, and give you the opportunity to apply and further develop your communication and decision-making skills.
Module Learning Strategies
The Sandwich Year placement normally requires the completion of at least 30 weeks in relevant supervised work experience taken between level 5 and level 6.
