Laptops with SADiE software. PCs with Adobe Audition software - to be acquired. (Discussion underway with Media Centre)
The Blackboard virtual learning environment will be availble (where relevant) to support this module. Details will be supplied in the module handbook.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Halfway point: Two short editing exercises one on Audition, one on SADiE (20% each) LOs 1 - 3

Final assessment: An exercise requiring the students to compile and edit a piece of radio to a broadcast standard from supplied audio material (40%) and a written individual evaluation (20%) LOs 3 and 4
Module Learning Strategies
Since the emphasis is on editing and mixing, most of the material for practice and assessment will be supplied. Students will work both individually and in groups in two hour workshops. There will be practical training in the software, with plenty of listening examples and exercises. Students will discuss their work with tutors and their peers, considering the artistic and ethical results of their endeavours as well as the practical ones.

Training on two of the most used audio editing software programmes - SADiE (BBC) and Adobe Audition (Local radio, community stations etc)

Editing for different kinds of programme,
Editing to retain the essence of the original,
Editing to length
Editing for clarity
Editing music

Mixing speech, music and sound effects
