Module Indicative Content
The module will focus upon key historical moments in film and highlight and discuss key film theories that have informed film studies. This will help identify why these key historical moments and theories are important in the production and understanding of film. Both areas underpin production, analysis and critique of film and this module helps recognise their importance. Topics covered will be e.g. film authorship, film genre, the innovators of film, the historical development of sound in film.
