Module Details
Indicative Content
This module introduces an exploration of the key concepts of television production in a professional studio space. You will be making programmes and extracts to demonstrate your understanding of television as a communicative medium, and the different production roles that contribute to the construction of content. This includes learning about the practical techniques and crafting skills to create visual content to connect with audiences. You will also undertake technical training to effectively use the range of TV studio production equipment safely and creatively, alongside post-production techniques to produce professional content for viewers.
Assessment Details
ASSESSMENT ONE: LIVE TELEVISION GROUP PROJECT

A Live 10-minute Television Group Project in an appropriate format demonstrating multicamera studio production techniques, pre-recorded VT (Video Tape) segments, single camera, graphics, sound, lighting and switching.

LOs (Learning Outcomes): 1-4 60%.

ASSESSMENT TWO: REFLECTIVE REPORT

A 1500-word Reflective Report documenting the production project, production role(s), skills development, and actions to maintain and improve your work.

LOs (Learning Outcomes): 1-5 40%.
Learning Strategies
The module combines practical workshops, screenings, and evaluative focused discussions. There will be a combination of tutor-led practical crafting sessions, technical training and critical based exploratory sessions with authentic activities relating to industry-based practice. There will also be some guided independent study and tutorials, which will form a critical component of on-going research, group work, meetings, personal development/skills development planning.

1. DEMONSTRATE AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF PROFESSIONAL CREATIVE TELEVISION PRACTICES IN RELATION TO THE CREATION OF PROGRAMME CONTENT.

2. RESEARCH, CONCEIVE, PLAN AND PRODUCE A CREATIVE STUDIO BASED TELEVISION PRODUCTION.

3. CRITICALLY ANALYSE AND EVALUATE TELEVISION PRODUCTION PRACTICE THROUGH THE CREATION OF TELEVISION CONTENT.

4. APPLY AND REVIEW PROFESSIONAL TELEVISION PRACTICE SKILLS IN THE DEVELOPMENT AT AN INTRODUCTORY LEVEL INDUSTRY STANDARD EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES TO PRODUCE CONTENT.

5. DEMONSTRATE THE EVALUATION AND REFLECTION OF TELEVISION PRODUCTION SKILLS IN THE PROCESS OF ITS CREATION AND RECEPTION.
