Module Learning Strategies
The module will be taught in six two-hour workshops followed by six tutorials/seminars.
Workshops will explore different research techniques, while at seminars students will present the outlines of their negotiated projects.
Module Indicative Content
The module introduces students to media and communication research methodology, providing concrete information and advice on how to structure and write a research project, how to apply qualitative and quantitative research methods to particular studies of production, consumption and interpretation of various media products, genres and practices.
Module Additional Assessment Details
The course will be assessed by an individual presentation and a written report and an individual negotiated project proposal
The individual project proposal will demonstrate the student's ability to analyse a media product within a wider theoretical, historical, political, etc. context, and will cover learning outcomes 1, 2 and 3. The learning outcome 4 and 5 will be covered by seminar presentations and report.
