Students should also have previous involvement with student radio
Indicative Content
The project provides the opportunity for you to draw together all the practical experience and critical understanding you have acquired about music radio broadcasting in general and radio station practices in particular. You will negotiate with your supervisor at the start of the module the nature of the project and the role you will undertake in the management of the student radio station. You will also negotiate, according the nature of your role, what evidence you will present for assessment and the criteria to be applied in assessing it. The culmination of the project is an extensive critical reflection on the role you have undertaken, which places your practical experiences in the wider historical and contemporary context of music broadcasting.
Learning Strategies
This is an individual project about your close work with the management team of the radio station, consistently and throughout semesters 1 and 2. You will have been appointed to a specified role within the management team before the start of semester 1 and the first phase of the module is for you to research the role in detail and agree how you will carry it out with colleagues on the team, supported by weekly tutorials. Your conduct of your role will be self-managed with regular weekly tutorials - both group and individual. Throughout the module you will keep a diary / blog of your conduct of the role and of the operation of the management team. Finally you will select evidence to support your evaluation of your learning during the module.
