Module Indicative Content
This module introduces the basic concepts of functional vehicle design, the underlying engineering principles and how parameters can be over engineered to produce visual and performance based concepts. To achieve this the students will be introduced to the basic principles of engines and how they produce power, acceleration and braking, stability and forces acting upon it. This theory will then be applied to developing technical and creative concept designs for all kinds of vehicles. Students will be taught drawing skills in the following areas:-
- Basic perspective and proportions
- Section drawing
- Perspective construction
- Digital sketching and environment reflections
- Conveying speed and stability through design
- Assessing the composition
- Digital design in 2D and 3D for vehicle prototyping
- Lighting vehicle for defined visual effect in 3D

A 2000 word logbook (80%) which shows a clear development cycle of the chosen vehicle in both 2D and 3D images, assessing Learning Outcomes 1 and 2.
A 10 minute presentation (20%) assessing Learning Outcome 3
