Module Learning Strategies
The module will be delivered using a combination of lectures, demonstrations and supervised tutorials in 3 hour periods. The majority of the work will be of a practical nature and students are expected to use their independent study time to consolidate this work.

1x 3 Hour laboratory
(1:30)3

* Directed reading and learning.
* Information gathering (Internet, books, technical articles,).
* Problem analysis and solution (analytical, experimental.)
* Use of software packages
* Report writing.
* Preparation of oral presentation.
* Presentation and critical work analysis at tutorials.
* Attendance at lectures and tutorials
Module Additional Assessment Details

An individual logbook of 1500 words, weighted at 40% assessing learning outcomes 2 and 4.

A practical weighted at 50% assessing learning outcomes 1 and 3 and a presentation weighted at 10% assessing learning outcome 3.
Module Indicative Content
Students will gain knowledge and understanding of the application of animation principles integrated into a 3D environment combining simulation and effects. Students will expand and develop core animation skills in combination with the following processes:

- Simple acting with 3D models
- Exploring the link between emotion and physical movement
- Inverse kinematics
- Simulation, for example, particle systems, structures, cloth and caustics
- Blend shapes
- Observation development
- Pipeline development

Contstraints: Students will be encouraged to explore the animation philosophy and learn how to apply their outcomes through problem solving iniatives.
Module Resources
Lectures, library, computing facilities and Internet.
Module Special Admissions Requirements
Students must have studied CE01145-4 Digital Animation for Film 1 or equivalent.
