Indicative Content
This module builds on your experience with visual effects tools and builds on the ideas of adding narrative to the visual effects sequences to allow you to make more in depth choices on techniques and tools.
The module will clarify and add detail to the green screen and compositing techniques and provide more detailed modelling techniques. It will give you opportunity to develop your camera skills in still and moving images capture.
Throughout the module you will investigate, develop and propose your own ideas in collaboration with peers and staff to help you develop a critical mindset which is essential for your lifelong learning and development.
Additonal Assessment Details
1. Pitch Presentation 30% assessing learning outcome 1. The pitch is an individual presentation supported with visual materials to communicate the intended project outline and methods to be used.
2. Practical Portfolio 70% assessing learning outcomes 2, 3 and 4. The practical portfolio consists a negotiated narrative piece of work that uses a range of visual effects techniques. The portfolio should include only final render images.
Learning Strategies
This module will develop your understanding of visual effects production through engaging with research and practical exercises around the history, contemporary and future developments in the field. Problem-based learning will be used to contextualise the development of solutions using the skills and techniques developed through the module.
Workshops will introduce concepts and themes to build your knowledge and understanding of the subject and enable you to develop your applied skills across a range of production tasks with relevant production tools. Technical Instruction will build your competence in the setup and operation of a range of production equipment and post-production tools.

1. On completion of this module, you will be able to design and pitch a short VFX piece with a linked narrative.
