Module Indicative Content
In the first semester students will create original game concept environments using the process of matt painting in 2D applications. In the second semester students will amalgamate 2D and 3D design workflow. A range of application based skills and traditional skills are covered along with industry best practice work flow based on standard game concept design.

Students will cover the following topics:
- Matte Painting Fundamentals.
- 1, 2, 3 Point Perspective and foreshortening.
- Value Perspective, Colour Perspective, Linear Perspective.
- Separating of visual planes.
- Camera placement and perspective.
- Rapid digital colour Sketching.
- Creation of depth foreground and detail.
- 2D/3D photometric lighting.
- Psychology and semiotics of cultural environments.
- Detailing, Special FX and 3D particles
- Colour management and workflow control.
- Environmental effects on form and engineering structures.
- 2D/3D texturing techniques
- Physics, psychology of movement and action.
- Painting with CG Renders
- Camera mapping, compositing and projection
- Photomontase
