Module Details
Module Indicative Content
This module provides the framework for initiation a single student or group project in the field of Entertainment Technology. The module aims to create an outcome such as a short film, a short animation, a short visual effects film, a full music album, a computer game or the equivalent. The project outcomes will be proposed and agreed with the academic staff.

This module is the culmination of aspirations set out in a proposal into a practical working artefact. It will be approved following discussions between the students and the supervising tutors, and after submitting the required completed ethical forms for University committee review after which work will begin on the development of the artefact. The project proposal will help to establish a working process, across disciplines if appropriate, and begin to test ideas relating to project aims and objectives set by the student team.

The individual or team will each execute an individual body of project work and relevant academic and practical research supported by regular seminars in other to achieve the goal of the final artefact.

Module Additional Assessment Details
A coursework weighted at 100% comprising

60% Practical outcome - assessing learning outcomes 1 and 2 incorporating a peer assessment

40% Production of a logbook equivalent to 1500 words assessing learning outcome 3


Students are expected to regularly communicate using web based technologies (e.g. Skype, web based forums etc.) to to discuss the development of their practical work.

A detailed individual project Logbook of around 1500 words will be produced to accompany the main practical project. It will document the research, thoughts and critical analysis of the individual work.

Module Learning Strategies
Lectures and laboratory sessions (1:20)2
Students will be taught through a series of compressed teaching seminars. Students are expected to regularly communicate using web based technologies to the academic staff and each other for team discussions.

Module Resources
Students could choose to use any of the Entertainment Technology areas extensive resources. These will be identified in the project proposal document.

Students are expected to take advantage of the extensive library facilities available within the University.
