Module Details
Indicative Content
This module will investigate practical considerations of virtual production in the wider context of available methods. You will be looking at the rise of virtual production and the contributing factors to both its creation and success. You will also be challenged to justify the process in relation to alternative methods.
Concepts of budget, carbon footprint and sustainability will be investigated. Your ability to discuss and debate these implications will be developed to give a balanced approach to the decision making process. Alongside this you will further develop the processes of asset creation and more complex shoot planning. Processes of maintenance and fault finding will form a part of the provision to help you understand the interconnectivity of the virtual production resource.
Additional Assessment Details
1. Live debate 25% assessing learning outcome 2. The live debate will require students to prepare a short presentation around a current phenomenon in virtual and VFX production. After the presentation you will be challenged and questioned on their conclusions.
2. Virtual production assets 75% assessing learning outcomes 1, 3 and 4. The virtual production assets should comprise a high quality scene, fully textured and lit and optimised ready for the virtual production environment. It should be accompanied by a series of development snapshot with reflection on progress and actions taken.
Learning Strategies
This module will be delivered through a combination of mixed mode lectures and workshops with seminars and debates to build an understanding of the complex nature of virtual production.

Studio based work will allow for practical application and problem solving tasks and challenges to take place alongside project development sessions.
