Module Indicative Content
The dissertation requires the development of strong research and study skills, which are used to undertake a focused piece of academic study based on a subject grounded in the student's award area.
The dissertation requires the student to write a proposal outlining the nature of your study and develop a suitable time plan and to outline what the likely outcomes of the project will be. It is also required that you consider the ethical implications of your course of study and take the necessary steps to address them.
The dissertation should extend the range of skills developed on each student's chosen award. It should incorporate a review of relevant literature, the gathering and analysis of data, testing and evaluation.
Module Additional Assessment Details
1. Written proposal (Learning outcome 1) - 1,000 words.
2. Progress report (Learning outcomes 2 and 3) - 2,000 words.
3. Final report (Learning Outcomes 2 and 3) - 12,000 words.
Module Learning Strategies
Contact hours:-
3 x 1 hour sessions introducing project planning and management followed by regular small group or individual tuturials with supervisor.
Student centred learning to include research and report writing. The ability of the student to organise and manage their own learning is one of the key factors in the creation of a good project.
