MODULE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Demonstrate critical understanding and knowledge of User Interface design and established User Experience principles within games.
2. Evaluate the appropriateness of different designs and methods for solving User Interface design problems and propose solutions for implementing into User Interfaces.
3. Apply User Interface design principles and User Experience concepts within the game engine.
4. Reflect on the creation and iteration of User Interface designs. Critically evaluate implementations within the game engine and define improvements based on industry standards.
MODULE ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Assessment Component 1 - (Learning Outcome 1)
Research and Design for a given User Interface, weighted at 40%, consisting of:
- A series of forum posts showing research and deconstruction of User Interfaces within existing games to understand how they function. This will also demonstrate designs and plans for a range of student-designed, User Interface systems.
Assessment Component 2 - (Learning Outcomes 2, 3 and 4)
A User Interface Portfolio, weighted at 60%, consisting of:
- Game Engine files showing implemented User Interface systems in-game, video playthrough of the game and critical reflection of the project.

WEB DESCRIPTOR
This module will explore the key principles of User Interface design as you research existing Interfaces in games and then design your own. You will explore a range of User Experience principles and use these skills and knowledge to implement your own User Interface into a game engine.
