INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module is focused on the creation of meaningful work that should be representative of industry entry-level artist work. This will adhere to industry standard practice with assessment and critic that suits this subject.
Students will explore:
- The use of sketchbooks both digital and analogy to create primary ideation
- The use of smart phone cameras to create primary reference and PBR materials
- Create environment block outs
- Creating of assets libraries for the 3D composition
- Use of procedural material
- Photo texture poly modelling
- Lighting, Rendering and compositing
- Render passes for 2D software
- Presentation of multiple environment design final design
- P2P critic
- Driscoll method of reflection and applied use for creative application
- Prepping finalised work for portfolio presentation
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Assessment component 1 - (Learning Outcomes 1, 2, 3)
Portfolio of Environment Designs worth 80% consisting of:
You will create a portfolio of environment designs based on a supplied brief, this will include the completed work, a breakdown of the applied chosen pipeline and a breakdown of the real world and creative reference material.
Portfolio will contain accompanying research and visual references and a detailed production breakdown related to the given brief with considerations for development in games/film/tv with comparisons between the produced environment designs on the level of visual consistency.
Assessment component 2 - (Learning Outcomes 2, 4)
Development logbook and reflective analysis worth 20% consisting of:
You will analyse your workflow, visual reference, and production pipelines with justification for your decision making.
You will evidence in-session participation, with written reflection on implementation of feedback received.
You will need to participate in open class discussions and demonstrate your ability to give positive and applied feedback.
