Formative Assessment
Class and independent learning activities will complement the weekly lectures to enable the student to develop their understanding of the ideas being introduced in the module. Students will have the opportunity to receive feedback on their vision document plans and their plans for their draft reflective account.
Summative Assessment
Illustrated strategic vision document 60% (LO1)
Students will create an illustrated strategic document that encapsulates their future vision of sustainability in relation to an identified case study.
Report (1,000 words) 40% - individual (LO2 & 3)
Students will submit an individual account that reflects on their developing self-awareness, personal and professional development and considers how their approach to leadership and management impacts their colleagues, peers, practice and performance.

Module Learning Strategies
The learning strategy for this module requires students to commit 150 learning hours (including assessment). This will include 24 hours of class support and 126 hours of independent and self directed study.
The class sessions will include formal lectures, case study analysis, guest lecturers and group discussions based on student experiences in the subject area. Students will be encouraged to integrate their work based experiences with new knowledge and skills developed in the classroom as the module progresses.
The independent learning and self directed study will include guided reading of core texts and web-based materials to develop a knowledge of the module content. The self directed study will include the preparation of the strategic document and the production of the reflective account.
Module Indicative Content
This module will challenge students to consider the extent to which the sustainable community agenda is dependent on strong, visionary leadership and effective management. They will explore how leadership potential can be recognised and developed in diverse contexts and at all levels. Students will develop an awareness of essential tools used to establish, manage and monitor dynamic partnerships and organisations consider the fundamental importance of effective team, inter-professional and inter-agency working (in particular between voluntary, public and private sectors). They will explore the particular challenges and opportunities that arise during collaboration between individuals, groups, volunteers, public and independent organisations. Students will be required to evidence their own developing self-awareness through reflection on personal and professional development and evaluate how their approach to leadership and management impacts their colleagues, peers and individual practice and performance. The module will include:
