This module will challenge students to identify, propose and evaluate approaches to problem solving in neighbourhoods and communities. They will be introduced to concepts and theories of change management and develop and enhance their ability to effectively plan and implement change within sustainable community contexts. Students will develop a sound understanding of project management and action planning and will have the opportunity to practically apply their learning. The module will also address financial planning, procurement and preparing bids for funding.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Formative Assessment
A series of formative exercises running within and alongside the weekly lectures will provide the students with the detailed knowledge required to produce their own funding application. Feedback from peers and lecturer will inform development of the funding application and presentation.

Summative Assessment
Funding application ¿ group (80%) (LO1-3)
Students will work in small groups to prepare a simulated funding application based on a case study. The application will outline a proposed solution to an identified problem and include a detailed project/action plan including a financial strategy.

Presentation (10mins) 20% - group (LO4)
Students will present their development plan in a simulated funding application presentation.
Module Learning Strategies
The learning strategy for this module requires students to commit 150 learning hours (including assessment). This will include 24 hours of class support and 126 hours of independent and self directed study.
The 24 hours of class support will include lectures, discussion, presentations, group work with time allocated for the group to work together and peer review. The 126 hours of independent learning and self directed study will include guided reading of core texts to develop a detailed knowledge of change management and funding applications and time to develop the funding application and presentation.
