Module Learning Strategies
All of the learning material and the resources are housed within our virtual learning environment Blackboard. There is a compulsory introductory workshop to the award at the University. Having been introduced to the module content, over subsequent weeks you will work thorough course material. This provides a structure within which you will read key texts and papers, and also carry out specific tasks such as reflection, summarizing, discussing and reviewing. This work will be undertaken on an individual basis but at various points you will be expected to interact and share material with other students in your learning group.

This module will provide you with an appreciation of the factors that contribute to sustainable business practice, and the ability to identify how these can be incorporated into the management of an organisation. It will give you an understanding of how the economic, environmental and ethical/societal impacts of a organisation's activities can be monitored and measured, and an outline of some of the practical ways in which an organisation can reduce its environmental and societal impacts, both strategically and operationally. It will include an review of the methodologies that are used for evaluating and assessing environmental and societal impact, and an overview of life cycle analysis, environmental impact assessment and strategic environmental assessment (including their use in determining environmental impact). We also investigate and review corporate environmental and sustainability reporting and auditing.
