Module Learning Strategies
A range of studio based exercises and project work will provide the framework through which learning will take place; it will integrate the practical with the theoretical aspects of advanced image making techniques.
Studio work will be supported by introductory lectures and seminars; work in progress will be monitored through group tutorials and critiques.
Life drawing classes will take place a controlled environment
Surgeries/Technical support in appropriate software will be available if required.

Module Indicative Content
This module aims to expand and build on your exsisting visual vocabulary, developing skills and concepts in greater depth. An individual approach will be required towards the understanding and solving of a diverse range of image making problems. You will be required to demonstrate a more in-depth opinion of social and cultural variations that may affect the visual outcome of a design or image. Through this module you will gain greater confidence in manipulating media to answer specific design problems and enhance presence and meaning. Continued experimentation with media and working methods will be encouraged alongside further development of traditional drawing skills in a controlled studio environment using both still life and life drawing.
The investigation of expressive possibilities in technology, print and photography and the role of audience.
Module Additional Assessment Details
At the end of this module you will submit a body of work as outlined in the module handbook.
This will include a research file containing appropriate annotated research into a diverse range of advanced image making techniques as well as practising artists and designers. (Learning outcome; 1)
Sketchbooks; containing evidence of an in depth investigation of media and image making techniques. Using sketchbooks and layout pads you will develop a range of possible solutions through rough visuals demonstrating the ability to solve complex visual communication design problems. (learning outcomes; 2,4) Initial ideas will be developed to produce professional finished illustrations using appropriate media/software. (Learning outcomes; 3 )
