Module Details
Module Indicative Content
An introduction to theories of international organisation and global governance. Functionalism, neo-functionalism, neo-liberal institutionalism. The debate over hegemonic leadership and the requirements for global stability. Regime theory and issue areas. The United Nations system, security and intervention. The global economy and institutional managements: the IMF; World Bank and WTO. The role of G7/8. Co-operation and policy implementation: case studies to include a selection from the global environment; nuclear non-proliferation; humanitarian intervention; global communications and travel; human rights.
Module Learning Strategies
Lectures will initially provide an introduction to module themes and provide an overall structure to the module. Lectures will introduce theoretical frameworks, key events and then focus upon the case examples.

Seminars and workshops will deepen knowledge and develop skills of applying concepts and theories, and their issue based relevance and applicability, and encourage students to engage in debate.

Tutorials will provide students with assistance in preparing for their assessments.
