It will look at the biggest post cold war security threat: that from AQ and Islamic extremism, across the world, including in its heartland of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Module Learning Strategies
The module is to be delivered entirely by VLE. A programme of structured reading will provide background knowledge, structure to the module and identify highly significant themes, concepts and theories. After each set of readings there will be tasks and questions to answer to a discussion board, which will be the main forum for learning and interaction between students and between the students and the tutor. 128 hours are allocated to self-directed study aided by the handbook and comprehensive reading lists. This time should be used for researching topics and theoretical material, preparing for online discussions and working on the essay required for assessment. You will be expected to engage in discussion and will receive feedback on your ideas as part of preapration for the assignment.
