Module Details
Module Learning Strategies
The two knowledge strands of HRM/OB and Operations Management will be taught separately but the knowledge will be focussed on building up application of techniques to a virtual organisation to simulate 'real' business decisions Students will engage in a variety of learning forums including:
tutor-led formal presentations,
workshops and group based tutorials, tutor-directed e-learning programme and real business experiences and guest presentations.
Module Indicative Content
The organisation as a transformation system and the principles underpinning effective resource allocation.
Fundamental theories of organisational behaviour
Basic principles and techniques of Human Resource Management
Fundamental principles and practices of operations and supply-chain management
How these two aspects of the organisation have to be integrated to secure effective operations.
Module Resources
In addition to the usual class-room requirements, the students will need to be able to access the computer labs on a regular basis and engage in e-learning activities.

Module Additional Assessment Details
Details::
A range of assessment activities to based around a single case study of an organisation.

Assessment 1 - 50%
Individual portfolio submission based on a web-based assessment programme, (Operations and Supply-Chain Management) which assesses LOs 1, 4, 5 & 6

Assessment 2 - 50%
An individual class-based knowledge test of 1 hour (OB/HRM) which assesses LOs 1, 2, 3 & 6

Reflection on how the areas fit together in organisational terms and complement the Staffordshire Graduate Attributes (pebble pad or other equivalent method).
