Module Details
Indicative Content
This module explores the key and contemporary issues associated with people management and development in the workplace. Calling upon literature and research from across the fields of Human Resource Management, Learning and Development and Organisational Behaviour.



This module examines how managers in organisations seek to manage the learning and development of individuals and teams and the links between Human Resource Management techniques, development practices and contribution to organisational performance.



Consideration will be given to the managerial challenges of different organisational contexts and include surrounding theory and practice in terms of change management and organisational culture.
Additional Assessment Details
An individual 2500 word written assessment outlining the challenges of developing people within own/selected organisation with supporting recommendations. LOs 1-3
Learning Strategies
Scheduled learning and teaching activities.
To consist of:
Face-to-face which will include groupwork, formal teaching, case study analysis, guest speakers and students will be encouraged to share their workplace experiences with others


Guided independent study:
To consist of:
Independent reading to consolidate knowledge gained in the formal teaching
Undertaking formative tasks set by the tutor to consolidate learning
Assessment preparation and writing and gathering evidence


You will undertake ‘formative’ assessments during the module to help you monitor your learning and provide you and us with ongoing feedback on your progress, that helps you prepare for the ‘summative assessment(s) during or at the end of the module.
