Module Details
Module Indicative Content
Students build on the experience of the first sports media placement module to establish and develop effective working practices, routines and relationships in a sports media organisation or organisations, with an advised maximum of two placement organisations agreed with the module tutor. Students are required to demonstrate competence in a wide range of responsibilities and duties in the process of delivering sports media output, to be assessed using the criteria detailed in the learning outcomes. This includes a focus on individual input to the organisation, to be demonstrated by accumulating a substantial body of recordings/cuttings and/or other evidence. The necessity to fully embrace the operations of the placement organisation(s) is also essential for students to succeed in producing the 1,500 word case study of the placement(s) or, with the tutor's agreement, a specific aspect of the organisation(s), required as part of the formal module assessment. Students will also produce a further 2,500 words comprising of an analytical report on the placement(s), a workplace diary and a reflective evaluation. Students will be monitored throughout by the employer and the module tutor, students and employers will deliver a formal statement of the student's performance.
Module Additional Assessment Details
A portfolio comprising evidence of work done (recordings/cuttings), an employer statement and a student-written assessment (4,000 words) including a case study, placement report, a workplace diary and a reflective evaluation [Learning Outcomes 1-9]
